Inspiration to be in culinary industry

Originally from Glenwood, Minnesota Ian later moved to Minneapolis to cook in several restaurants. There he worked with several influential chefs in the area and learned to respect produce and the process of working with local farmers to supply the highest quality food in the city. A staple growing up in a small town was eating Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes at every family gathering, cleaning his plate with a handful of buttered lefse. Ian has recently moved to Lutsen with his fiancé Caitlin and they are excited to be a part of the community on the north shore.

Favorite dish

Bibimbap from Dong Yang Korean Deli in Columbia Heights, Minnesota. It’s a soft-cooked egg on top of crispy fried rice with fresh vegetables and braised pork. I always ask for the house-made chili sauce.

Locally-grown produce and sustainably-raised animals.

When not in the kitchen

I like to bake sourdough bread with my fiancé Caitlin and share the mistakes with my dogs Murphy and Wendy.
