Originally from the Twin Cities, Eric moved to the North Shore shortly after graduating from Colgate University in the spring of 2015 with a degree in Economics and Philosophy. After honing his paddling skills working as an outfitter on the Gunflint Trail, Eric circumnavigated Lake Superior solo in a kayak during the summer of 2015 where he encountered big waves, 40mph winds, bears, wolves, caribou, and a whole lot of solitude. On the trip he fell in love with Superior, and- with the exception of a few months spent trekking through the Himalayas and canoeing 1,254mi of the Mississippi solo from Brainerd, MN to Memphis, TN- he hasn’t been able to leave the Lake since!
Eric is an active member of the Cook County community, an avid sourdough bread baker, and a passionate outdoorsman with experience paddling, hiking, fishing, XC-skiing, and snowshoeing just about every trail and lake of this neck of the woods. Ask him where he’s paddled, and it will be easier to ask him where he hasn’t!
