New On-Site Spa Enhances Experience at Lutsen Resort
LUTSEN, MN - Adding a unique twist to an already unforgettable North Shore experience, guests at Lutsen Resort can now enjoy a relaxing massage with a breathtaking view of Lake Superior. Nestled in the boreal forest on the bluff above the historic main lodge, the new WatersMeet Spa and Wellness Center at Lutsen Resort features four oversized rooms, including a couple's massage room, a relaxation room and a deck. The highly specialized staff offers guests a wide variety of relaxing spa treatments including deep-tissue and relaxation massages, heated stone therapy and aromatic towel wraps.
New facility features a unique, open design-and a spectacular view
Director Carol Einwalter says the design of the new facility is radically different than most spas. "Most spas these days are built to get the most amount of clients into the smallest amount of space to maximize profits," she said. "We took a different approach. Our large, airy rooms allow our staff and our guests to fully relax and enjoy their spa experience."
Allowing access to all types of clientele was also a high priority in the building design. "While most spas cater only to a younger, active demographic, we wanted to accommodate the needs of all of our guests, regardless of age, activity level or handicap."
Jeff Stoddard, the general manager of Lutsen Resort, adds that the location of the new facility was chosen to give guests the feeling of a remote, private experience while providing easy drive- or walk-up access. "The new Watersmeet Spa was built on the location of the old Cliffhouse structure, which was part of the lore of the resort. The setting provides guests with one of the best views of Lake Superior anywhere on the North Shore. And with that view comes the added benefit of a truly wonderful spa experience."
