Weekend Activity Descriptions
Join us for a photography workshop during peak fall color.
Photographer Bryan Hansel leads you on a learning experience to
some of the most beautiful out-of-the-way locations for making
fall color images. Workshop time is divided between the
classroom - learning about metering, manual camera controls,
lighting, composition - and the field. Evenings are spent peer
reviewing the day's images.
Although there will be some classroom time, expect to spend
most of this workshop in the field. Bryan will be available to
answer any questions, suggest pictures, and show you some of his
hidden photography sites.
Program Presentations
CAMERA BASICS AND COMPOSITION: Join Bryan to learn about those
manual setting on your camera. He also discusses composition and
several techniques for developing your photographic style.
LIGHTING AND FALL COLOR: Learn about lighting, metering, and the
creative use of exposure to influence your final image. We’ll also
discuss ways to increase the saturation of your fall colors
without using a Photoshop slider.
PEER REVIEW: You’ll select five of your favorite images from the
day and project them on the big screen for peer review.
Required Photography Equipment
Camera: A SLR style digital camera or a point and shoot that
allows you to manually set your shutter speed and aperture is
highly recommended, but other cameras will also work.
Filters: A polarizing filter is a must. Two and Three Step ND
Grads with Holder and rings for your lenses. Two to Seven Stop ND
Filter can be very fun this time of year.
Other Suggested Equipment: Bring a tripod, your camera’s manual,
and a laptop computer. Call for recommendations.
